The beautiful Fonzie arrived to us late last year. He went straight to ITR Re-Trainer Caroline Price where the plan was to re-train and rehome him. Unfortunately, he had some ongoing sore feet and it was decided he needed some more time to adjust and hopefully after a spell he would be ok to do a little work. So, on the truck to Wyneden Park he went for a nice sunny holiday.
Poor Fonz unfortunately had a failed throat operation in HK which means he is susceptible to catching Pneumonia. Half-way home, he came down with a temperature and we knew straight away that he was not right. Thanks to the quick actions of Manuel Equine Transport, he was attended to by Vets and was admitted to the ICU for treatment. It was touch and go for a bit, but thankfully after just over a week of treatment, we were able to get him back on a truck and back home with no complications so far.
NOW, THIS IS A HUGE ASK AND REALLY, WE DON’T KNOW IF WE WILL FIND ANYONE, BUT WE HAVE TO TRY.
THE POSITIVES!
Fonz is lovely, beyond lovely. He is super easy to handle, absolutely loves cuddles, scratches, standing under sprinklers, easy to rug, inspecting everything you do while you are in his paddock – just a big puppy dog really!
He stands about 16.1hh – and we do think he will be fine to do easy exercise, light riding, nothing exhausting. He is a great type, and that beautiful golden chestnut.
For a horse with a throat condition, he is a decent doer!
Due to his failed throat OP, he aspirates his food and water. He has a sad party trick where when he drinks, the water comes out his nostrils. He coughs a lot and has the occasional green snotty nose.
His management has been quite straight forward since being home. We wet down all his feed. He is fed on the ground, and he lives in a grassy paddock. So far, no issues.
He is at risk of Pneumonia, and this risk becomes much higher if he travels long distances.
He will come with a long list of management options to try and help keep him healthy.

Someone willing to give this beautiful guy a loving home, even though there is a high chance of him becoming ill.
There are many things we will discuss with potential homes in private about this horse. His welfare is our biggest priority, so he won’t be going to just anyone, but we will be assisting as much as possible in his care once he leaves us.
